Wake Up Call

Well, it's been 9 months since I made an update to my xanga, I wonder if anyone will even know... but I will. You see this week I had rather forceful wake up call from God about my health/life. I ended up in the emergency room and then overnight for tests due to pressure/pain in my chest. Turns out after multiple tests it looks like my heart is healthy and not getting any restricted blood flow which is certainly good news. Apparently I have some calcification in an artery near a major blood vessel and when you couple that will stress in your life, problems can occur.

It's the stress in my life I need to work on. I think that's the message God is sending me. I generally put my life in God's hands yet there are still things I don't turn completely over to Him and those things will cause me stress. I take personal responsibility for how they turn out and add pressure to my life to perform, do the extra tasks, whatever. I've realized there are things in my life I need to cut out and just refocus on the essentials.

I was just signing on to xanga to update my email address and decided to stick this out there also. So, if anyone is reading this, I would appreciate a prayer for me and my family that I can refocus, get calmer and more peaceful in life and cut out the stress.

Last night was the big judging of the clean room contest. Boy was I impressed by the level of effort put in by our girls to get their rooms clean in an attempt to win first pize. Robby took himself right out of it from the beginning, putting in only a minor effort at cleaning so I didn't even consider his room in the running. It was Christina's and Millicents room by a nose in the competition but both rooms were really superb! Looked like a professional cleaning service had just gotten done on them.

Mmmmm, now how can I get that same effort applied to the rest of the house?????

Movies

OK, I'm finally updating my xanga and it's movies that have prompted me- Two movies this week, one excellent and one just OK.

First the excellent one- The Exorcism of Emily Rose. It's portrayal of the demonic possession of Emily Rose by 6 demons was superb in it's fidelity to the truth of what demonic possession is all about. And make no mistake about it, the devil is real and his demons do succeed in possessing some people in just that way, with the only remedy, an exorcism performed by a Catholic Priest. The movies portrayal of the exorcism ritual itself represented it very well. You will finish that movie with a better appreciation of the reality of Satan and his minions and a much better appreciation for the love of God who sent his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to die for us to free us from the grip of Satan and who is there to protect us still. The movie is very startling. I would not recommend it for anyone under 13 or so. The scary nature is not overdone and is simply a result of the reality of what the demons can do. It is not portrayed in an excessively bloody or overly gross manner but does make it plain how disturbing demonic possession really is. The biggest success Satan can have is to make you think he doesn't exist, which is sadly what I would say most people think today. This movie will make you think otherwise, and will make you understand the wisdom and love of God even more as a result.

So, on to the just OK movie, the remake of  Pride and Prejudice- only good because if I hadn't seen the original 6 hour movie I think I would have had a hard time following this one in some spots. It was very faithful to the original and the time period in which it took place, resisting the urge to modernize throughout the whole move.......except for the very end! Aaaargghhhhhh! Where was the wedding scene?????? You are left in the end with a scene in which, if you are so inclined, you may firmly believe she's moved in with him in anticipation of the wedding and that it hasn't happened yet. That was actually the first impression I had! I hated the ending. Other than that it was OK. I think I'll go back to the original one. It was a nice night out at the $2.00 theater on Valentines day with my wife though, to watch it. I had fun honey, thanks.

OK, here's something that's really cool. This electrician has rigged up his house Christmas lights to flash in time to music by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. You have to check this out- It's a 4meg windows media file. The first link is on google played in a big window, and if you want to download the file it's the second link:

Movies, Movies, Movies.....

So, what to write next. Narnia.... King Kong.....? Which one should we go see first? That's a tough question for me actually. I'm looking forward to both of them. I'm way too busy just trying to get ready for Christmas to be able to take time out for a movie. Especially the THREE hours it's going to take to see King Kong!!!!!
